Antz Working Together
Who are we?
Welcome to Antz. Together we will work towards building the best. Whether we are refurbishing a large city office block or building a granny flat on a small rural property, we do it all and we do it well. We are the ants that pull together to move mountains!
Our goal is to be the customer's first choice in building and construction. We believe in being the very best, while still being affordable and on time. Our objective is to maintain, improve, and develop our core services' quality, flexibility, innovation, speed, and responsiveness.
Antz with attitude
Attitude determines altitude and Antz is climbing to the top! Antz staff feel confident that they can achieve the best outcomes, and believe they are part of the best construction company. They perform all their duties to the very best of their abilities. Antz only hires the best.
Our organisation upholds strong values. At Antz we value responsiveness to the needs of customers and employees, leadership, innovation, creativity, initiative, risk-taking, and openness to communication. We believe in integrity, honesty, productivity, and innovation. We have a passion for quality construction. Staff who share these values experience a sense of satisfaction in their work. We reward our staff with production bonuses - if the company succeeds, you profit too.
Being a part of Antz means you are part of something bigger. Your contribution matters! You are part of a team working towards being the best. But we also have a bit of fun together. We have an informal atmosphere. Our social club organises get-togethers every week, as well as a special monthly function.
How do we work?
There are a range of work situations and circumstances at Antz due to the variety of staff roles, jobs, and sites. Our administrative staff have a structured work environment where they are responsible for developing and implementing the policy, systems and processes that provide a working framework for our business services. Their roles, responsibilities, and tasks are fairly stable and we allocate work by providing:
- plans and objectives
- job descriptions and performance standards
- priorities
- resources and timelines.
In contrast, on our construction sites work tasks are more fluid and may vary considerably from day to day. Responsibilities and tasks are allocated by oral instructions and briefings. Our staff show leadership and initiative and are happy with the delegation process.
Our staff are like ants working towards our business objectives to be effective, efficient, and responsive in producing quality construction. This helps us meet our goal to be the first choice in building and construction. Antz' business plans provide direction and focus. They coordinate and communicate objectives to our ants. We measure our performance by checking that we meet projected completion times, cost estimates, and numbers of satisfied customers and by the number of completed construction projects.
In flexible situations we may not be able to allocate work through devices such as written plans and job descriptions. We may need to provide oral instructions or briefings. These will explain:
- what the staff member is required to achieve
- why this is necessary
- how the task is to be achieved
- when and where the task is to be achieved
- what standard is required
- who else should be involved in getting the task done
- what constraints must be observed, for example, resource constraints?
Your manager will discuss your working hours with you. Staff can negotiate flexible working hours within the hours of 7 am to 7 pm, depending on the requirements of the position and the department. It may be possible for staff to negotiate with their manager to work from home.
