CV Task
This task requires you to analyse a bad curriculum vitae (CV) and then create a good CV and letter of application for a builder's apprentice position. The information you need can be found by looking at Jade's awful CV, researching in the office, and searching the internet or libraries.
Jade is an Antz renovation site hand. She wants to apply for a building apprenticeship position at Antz, and she has asked you to help her improve her CV and help her write a letter of application. She wants to present herself as well as she can.
Unfortunately, Jade's CV is awful. She has made some big mistakes and has not presented herself well. She needs your help to pull it into shape.
You will work within your forum team to research and answer the task questions, and then collate and present your feedback to Jade, the completed CV, and the letter of application for the position.
Organise your forum team
You need to organise your forum team. You can nominate yourself for positions or suggest other team members. Your forum team needs to:
- choose a facilitator to direct discussions within the team
- decide how the members of your team will work together to research the task questions and deliver feedback (you need to agree on who will research each question)
- choose a reporter to collate and write up the team's findings.
Plan your research
When researching the information, you need to address these questions and tasks:
- What feedback do you need to give Jade?
- Create a good targeted CV for Jade for the builder's apprenticeship position.
- Create a good letter of application for Jade for the position.
- What are the critical skills needed for this position?
- What will the appointee's duties and tasks be?
- What are the appointee's required competencies, including:
- skills
- knowledge
- personal qualities
- physical requirements.
- What qualifications and experience should the appointee have?
Present your team's completed feedback, CV, and letter of application to your tutor. This is a collaborative task - share with each other and do the best you can.
