Person Specification

For recruitment purposes, a person specification is often attached to a job description. This helps ensure that the person who will be doing the job has the right qualifications and attributes.

A person specification is a statement of the skills, abilities, qualifications, and experience that a person needs to perform a job.

Required competencies

• product knowledge of all hardware stock
• able to serve customers and meet their needs
• able to handle customer requests in a timely and organised fashion
• able to create displays using supplied products
• demonstrates accuracy with calculations, including money transactions
• shows initiative in maintaining tidiness and cleanliness in the department.

Qualifications

• National Certificate in Retailing or equivalent experience
• KiwiHost Certificate preferred

Experience

• at least two years in retailing is essential
• experience of hardware products is essential
• some management experience is preferred
