What Job Changes Can Be Made?

There are likely to be some changes to the jobs at the plant once the new machinery is installed. There will be some new opportunities, particularly around the role of cutting machine operator. At least one more operator will be required, as the new machine will increase the plant's capacity and eventually 24-hour operation will be possible.

With the increased capacity, management are also talking about getting another loader. This will create an opportunity to hire another driver (or two).

Increased capacity for the plant is likely to increase work opportunities in all areas, except perhaps the office.

The new machinery is much more automated, and it will provide more appropriate information to management about what is required. Alongside the new machinery, Antz is also investing in some computer-based inventory management software, and this will get rid of the need for a lot of the paperwork that is currently necessary. There are now two office assistants, but while they will be needed for the foreseeable future, at some point it may be possible to reduce the office staff.
