You’ll see the list of circumstances under which the Human Rights Act makes it illegal to discriminate. It’s important that you don’t advertise in a way that suggests you will discriminate on any of those grounds. Complaints under the Human Rights Act go to the Human Rights Commission for investigation. The Commission will try to mediate an acceptable resolution, but if that fails it may issue a variety of orders and – though it very rarely does this – award damages.
