Management consists of four ongoing functions: planning, organising, leading and controlling.

First you plan, then you organise, then you lead and support staff, and then you see how well you are doing. The control aspect of management can be seen as completing the cycle.

When do these functions happen?

Be aware, however that, as a manager, you may need to apply planning principles to many situations throughout the year: unplanned planning, if you like!

Organising takes place from time to time throughout the year.
