Planning is a core management function. The other three functions (organising, leading and controlling) can’t work without planning. Planning looks at the future and answers the questions:
- Where are we now?
- Where do we want to go?
- When will we get there?
- How will we get there?
Planning includes:
- analysing the current situation
- setting goals
- identifying tasks, approaches, actions, personnel and resources.
